Join NRCM and other co-sponsors of the First District Congressional Candidate Forum on Sustainability at the University of Southern Maine's Glickman Library (7th Floor) in Portland.

Charlie Summers, the Republican nominee for the First District seat, and Chellie Pingree, the Democratic candidate, will participate in the nonpartisan event. Irwin Gratz, host of Maine Public Radio’s “Morning Edition,” will moderate.

The public is invited to attend free of charge, but space is limited. Reservations may be made by writing to info@trails.org.

The forum will be broadcast on community television stations in more than 230 cities and towns throughout Maine during the month of October.

The forum will cover such topics as global warming, alternative transportation, clean energy, land protection, wildlife habitat, water quality, reducing toxics and supporting Maine agriculture and fisheries. A reception will follow, with light refreshments served.

Join Pete Didisheim, NRCM's Advocacy Director at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring Street, Auburn for "Tapping Windpower to Help Solve Maine’s Energy Crisis."

We currently face a society-wide energy crisis that demands fast action to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and help curb the risk of climate change. Pete will describe what Maine can do now through careful and ambitious development of wind power to reduce carbon emissions, increase energy independence, and promote clean energy jobs. He will review the status of wind power in Maine and discuss future opportunities and challenges.

NRCM is the leading environmental organization in Maine working in support of wind power development, so this talk will provide the audience with a very current, insider view of what has become the fastest growing source of energy generation in the world.

Climate Change 21Join NRCM at an international conference Climate Change21: Choices for the 21st Century - An Interactive Forum and Environmental Festival hosted by The University of Maine and its Climate Change Institute. The conference will be held at the Wells Conference Center.  Please visit NRCM's table at the conference to learn how you can get involved to help pass sustainable climate and energy policies at the state and federal level. The conference agenda includes: keynote speakers (including world renowned scientists, officials, and business people), town meeting-style discussions, highlights of climate change research at the University of Maine, student research posters, and much more.
